TO ALL OUR VALUED MEMBER CLUBS, PLAYERS, COACHES, ADMINISTRATORS AND VOLUNTEERS
It is with a deep sense of disappointment that Sutherland Shire Netball Association Executive are announcing the abandonment of our Winter 2021 season.
The extension of Public Health Orders to 28 August, with no details on an exit strategy on the current lockdown or a return to community sport, leaves all of us with no alternative. For a second season the Covid-19 pandemic has impacted our netball lives. With the continuing pandemic restrictions, our season ceasing at part played Day 9, and our inability to play finals series as in 2020, we believe the fairest option for all is to record no winners across grades for 2021.
Sutherland Shire Council will be commencing remediation work on the top tier at Bellingara courts at the end of September with the State Government chemical clean up set down for the weekend of 11/12 September. These two events leave SSNA with limited access to Bellingara netball courts for the remainder of 2021.
The SSNA Executive remain hopeful of providing a Summer Twilight at Barden Ridge Netball Courts should Public Health Orders allow, along with the possibility of a 2022 pre-season series/gala days at Bellingara Netball Courts (once the remediation works are completed) or at Barden Ridge.
The current Stay at Home Public Health Orders are providing trying times for us all. If anyone is having particular difficulties please reach out to your netball family for assistance or advice – we are here if you need.
The SSNA Executive focus is on the health, safety and wellbeing of all our valued members, players, volunteers and administrators. We are continuing with our planning for 2022 and look forward to providing a full winter season competition.
